We have transformed a uniform lawn into a varied Garden of Eden. The shape of the new food forest is defined by the existing paths. Between the two, further alleys have been traced, according to a plan inspired by the design of the garden’s wrought iron railings. Initially, the soil was enriched with compost from our own garden. Afterwards, we planted a mix of trees, shrubs, low and ground cover plants. These were complemented by a range of perennial and annual plants, selected to encourage diversity and rare varieties. A small flowery meadow was also added to attract bees. Flowers and harvests are guaranteed all year long. The Mediterranean plants were located higher up, to protect them from any overly wet ground. The ironwork on the front gate was also made by our craftsmen.
