A green oasis in the centre of the town, requiring minimal maintenance; it’s charming, colourful and perfumed. This small urban garden of 68 m2 comes with 45 plant species: 95% can be eaten. A lime-tree shaded path is bordered by ironstones typical of the region. As the plants were already located close to this path, the soil under the plants did not need to be tamped down, and they are constantly fertilised naturally – leading to ever-larger crops each year. Anyone living here can consult our list of plants, to see which part of the plants is edible and when. A private compost bin provides just the quantity of compost necessary, doing away with the need for extra compost. To compensate for the garden’s slight difference in level, a step has been installed from an old bluestone sill and bricks gathered during the house’s renovation. This may be a small detail, but it visually adds a great deal to the garden.
